This small pyramid-shaped stone is used to entrap incorporeal creatures within it. When an incorporeal creature passes within a 20 foot vertical cone from the Pyramidion's apex, the stone emits a cone of non-damaging energy. The creature passing near is absorbed and trapped in the stone if it willingly submits to the radiant energy, or if it fails a CON saving throw. See the table below.
The stone fails at trapping a creature if the creature is not incorporeal, does not submit willingly, or succeeds on the saving throw.
Appearance
The Pyramidion Stone is cut from a single piece of quartz-like material. It has an obvious apex, as the base of the stone is wider than the height of the sides. When the stone is empty, it feels lightweight, but becomes significantly heavier when full, with a darker color.
Ranged Entrapment
If the stone is thrown towards a creature for entrapment, make a ranged attack roll at disadvantage (add DEX modifier) to see if it hits the mark and lands with the apex pointing up. Any creature that succeeds at this 3x gains proficiency and no longer rolls at disadvantage, and also adds their proficiency modifier to the attack roll.
Once a Pyramidion Stone opens, it stays open until an incorporeal creature is captured, or no more incorporeal creatures occupy the area of effect. A stone may be kicked over (perhaps with appropriate ability check roll) to close it.
A pyramidion stone's charge is not used up until a creature is successfully trapped within it.
Single Use
Each Pyramidion Stone can only hold a single incorporeal creature. A full Pyramidion Stone has no effect on creatures.
Releasing a Trapped Creature
The only way to release a creature from a pyramidion stone is to shatter the stone or by using the Pyramidion Stone to recharge a Cyclotronic Amulet. If the stone is shattered, the creature may escape. Most stones have AC of 19 and HP of 25 to 50 with a damage threshold of 10. If the escaped creature would have been able to take a long rest based on the length of time contained in the stone, the creature escapes with regained HP, etc. from a long rest.
Recharging Cyclotronic Amulets
A single full Pyramidion Stone can be used to recharge up to 3 charges of a Cyclotronic Amulet. When the tip of the Pyramidion Stone is inserted into the notch at the bottom of the Cyclotronic Amulet and held for 10 seconds, the trapped creature's soul is destroyed and converted into radiant particle energy for the amulet. A Pyramidion Stone can only be used once in this manner, even if the amulet had partial charges remaining before recharge.
Radiant Wind Blast
Any non-incorporeal creature within 5 feet of an open Pyramidion Stone's area of effect must succeed on a DC 14 DEX saving throw or be knocked prone.
